Jumps

The jumps include the long jump, the triple jump and the high jump.

The jumps are normally done by people who specialize in these events. All though young people do what ever they want to, as they properly haven’t specialized in anything yet.

The triple jump is sometimes not done by young people as it involves a lot of training and working out the method. Long jump is a favorite of all people, the high jump involves a lot of work on the method of the event and a lot of practice. The hardest of them all is the pole vault. This is a specialized event where some of the professional vaulters are x-gymnasts. This of course helps, as being very flexible will allow you to go higher and to bend your body more to get over the bar.

For all the jumps, especially triple and long jump you need to work out your run up. Do it in practice, training so when you come to compete you don’t have to waste minutes working it out. Once you have worked it out you need to put some tape down next to where you want to go from.

Long jump is an event where you can either jump well with all the right things, or you can’t. This step by step guide might help you.

  • Firstly get a good, fast run up without looking down at the floor.
  • Then when you come up to the board look to the other side of the pit and push of the board with your feet.
  • Now let your arms come right up and push your feet forward in the air. Stay in the air for as long as you can.
  • Then lanch yourself forward and land in the pit.
  • Do not lean backwards or you will lose length.
  • Walk out the farside of the pit, not backwards.
